Our Mission
Since September 2007, the FCC has conducted a rulemaking that would establish rules for the 2155 - 2175 MHz band. M2Z along with tens of thousands of Americans, over 400 state, local and federal officials and a coalition of national organizations have participated in the proceeding and have asked the FCC to establish a free nationwide wireless broadband network with protections against children viewing inappropriate content.
On June 20, 2008, the Commission sought additional comments on establishing such a free broadband service. Under the Commission's proposal, the party that holds the license to provide free broadband would be required to provide a service at 768 kbps and deploy the network on the fastest mandated timeline in the history of US wireless services.
On behalf of the American consumer and over 100 million Americans and their families without broadband today -- and for those Americans without any choice of broadband provider -- M2Z supports this aggressive approach toward establishing additional broadband penetration and adoption. America's broadband Internet deployment goals are going unmet and America's international position is rapidly falling. Many American families, schools and libraries cannot afford broadband and most of rural America cannot even get access to the broadband Internet.
Once online, many families are concerned about the growing threat to children of easily accessible indecent and pornographic material. And public safety organizations often can't work together due to incompatible data networks.
M2Z seeks to put America back on the right track with our mission to provide free, fast, and family-friendly wireless broadband Internet connectivity to at least 95% of the US population.
